Verdict Reached in Conspiracy and Murder Cover-up Case Involving Missing Connecticut Mother of Five – Sky Bulletin

The Stamford jury returned a guilty verdict against Michelle Troconis, 49, on charges including conspiracy to commit murder connected to the 2019 disappearance of Jennifer Dulos, a Connecticut mother of five.

Troconis, alongside her then-boyfriend Fotis Dulos—the husband of Jennifer Dulos—was accused of playing a role in the murder and subsequent cover-up during contentious divorce and custody proceedings. Fotis Dulos committed suicide in January 2020 following his murder charge, avoiding trial.

Upon hearing the verdict, Troconis broke into tears and was taken into custody. The Dulos family spokesperson emphasized the ongoing absence of Jennifer and that the conviction was an essential step towards justice, not a celebration.

Troconis faces up to 20 years for the conspiracy charge alone and was found guilty of additional counts of evidence tampering and hindering prosecution. With a $6 million bond, her sentencing is scheduled for May 31. Her attorney expressed disbelief in the jury’s decision and intended to push for a new trial.

Jennifer Dulos remains missing since May 24, 2019. The case caused a national stir and inspired a television movie. Troconis, an American-Venezuelan dual national, was seen disposing of evidence with Fotis Dulos on the day of Jennifer’s disappearance.

The prosecution provided substantial evidence, including blood-stained items and DNA matches connecting both Fotis Dulos and Troconis to the crime. The defense challenged the DNA evidence and suggested it could have been transferred innocently.

Troconis initially misled the police about Fotis Dulos’s whereabouts on the day Jennifer went missing but later recanted her statement. Kent Mawhinney, a friend and former attorney of Fotis Dulos, awaits his own trial for conspiracy to commit murder. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
