"Pure Joy": LeBron James Revitalized by Opportunity to Play with Son Bronny

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James expressed his excitement about playing alongside his eldest son, Bronny, as he embarks on his record-equalling 22nd NBA season. Bronny, 19, was drafted by the Lakers as the 55th pick in June, marking a historic moment for the James family.

At the Lakers media day, the 39-year-old James shared how the prospect of teaming up with his son has reinvigorated him. “It’s a lot of excitement, a pure joy, to come to work every day and put in hard work with your son,” he said. “We push each other. He pushes me, I push him, and we push our teammates. It’s a joyous moment for our family.”

LeBron, who will turn 40 in December, also highlighted how his experience playing with NBA greats like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry during Team USA’s gold medal run at the Olympics helped rejuvenate his passion for the game. “Being around such incredible talent gives you a lot of joy to play at a high level,” he noted.

Reflecting on his performance, James remarked, “At my age and with the miles I’ve accumulated, playing at this level showed me I still have plenty in the tank.” He emphasized the importance of competing in meaningful basketball, saying, “Every possession means something. If you make a mistake, it burns you. It felt great to relive that.”

The NBA season is set to begin on October 22, with the Lakers facing off against the Minnesota Timberwolves following the champions, the Boston Celtics, who will take on the New York Knicks.
