Prince Harry Addresses Family Rumors in Passionate Speech at Clinton Global Initiative
During his recent speech at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, Prince Harry passionately reaffirmed his commitment to fatherhood and family, effectively dismissing rumors of a rift between him and Meghan Markle.
Speaking on Tuesday, Harry highlighted his dedication to his children while promoting the Parents Network, a charity he co-founded with Meghan to protect kids from the dangers of social media. He shared a personal touch, stating, “My lock screen is a picture of my kids, what is yours?” This heartfelt moment was accompanied by a display of images of children lost to social media bullying.
“These children and thousands more meant the world to their families,” he remarked, expressing sorrow over the devastating impact of social media. “It is why we launched the Parents Network, a global community providing essential support to parents whose children have suffered from these harmful effects.”
Harry’s comments appeared to directly counter ongoing speculation that he enjoys time apart from his family. Just a day before his speech, he was seen making a video call to Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.
Award recipient Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, 18, recounted the moment, saying, “Backstage, he was actually calling Meghan. I thought that was just so sweet, and it helped humanize him.”
The video call and Harry’s public acknowledgment of his family seemed strategically timed to address narratives of a divide between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. While in New York this week, Harry has attended several events separately from Meghan, but his statements and actions reflect a commitment to dispelling any notions of distance within his family.
