The much awaited feature of transferring WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone will soon be available as WhatsApp is now working to expand on its previous feature wherein it offered the ability to migrate chats from iPhone to certain Samsung devices.
The feature of transferring chat from Android to iPhone was first seen in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. Reports on WABetaInfo indicate that this feature will however require users to connect their Android device and iPhone via a USB-C to Lightning cable. That’s not it as users will also require to run Move to iOS app to finish the migration of chats from Android to iPhone. More details about this feature should be available in future WhatsApp beta builds.
While making the feature available for Android devices could be a great thing, but physically connecting the devices could be a problem for some. We believe that the feature would be a great addition if it is made into a process where current Android to Android transfer of chat happens through the cloud and without the requirement of any physical connection.
WhatsApp not be available on these phones after November 1st, 2021
WhatsApp continues to reduce the number of phones it supports and in its latest announcement it has revealed that it will be no longer support devices running anything older than Android 4.1. Other supported OSes include iOS 10 or newer and KaiOS 2.5.1 or newer.
Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now nearly a decade old mobile operating system. This means that most of the phones currently available in the market would most probably be on Android 4.0.4 that was the final update for Ice Cream Sandwich. As long as you can update your phone to at least Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (which Google released in 2021), you can keep using WhatsApp. For now, anyway.
