Miami Dolphins Place Tua Tagovailoa on Injured Reserve After Latest Concussion
The Miami Dolphins have placed star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the reserve/injured list following his latest concussion, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. This decision allows Tagovailoa time to consult with outside neurologists while sidelined for a minimum of four games. His earliest return could be during Miami’s home game against the Arizona Cardinals on October 27.
Tagovailoa sustained the concussion during the Dolphins’ 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, where he was injured while diving for a first down and hit by Bills safety Damar Hamlin. The 26-year-old has a concerning history with concussions, having suffered multiple injuries in the 2022 season and previously expressing thoughts of stepping away from football due to their impact.
In Tagovailoa’s absence, third-year quarterback Skylar Thompson is expected to start against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Additionally, the Dolphins have signed quarterback Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.
