Max Kennedy Expresses Heartbreak Over Brother Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Endorsement of Trump, Calls for Support of Kamala Harris

Max Kennedy, brother of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has voiced profound disappointment over his sibling’s decision to endorse Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election. In a poignant op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, Max Kennedy condemned Trump as the type of “arrogant, entitled bully” that his late father, Robert F. Kennedy, actively opposed before his assassination in 1968.

Max Kennedy believes his father would have supported Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, due to her career focused on “decency, dignity, equality, democracy, and justice,” qualities he associates with his father’s legacy. He expressed deep sorrow over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision, emphasizing that their father’s life was dedicated to the well-being of the American people.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his suspension from the 2024 presidential race on Thursday, following which he publicly supported Trump at a rally in Arizona. Kennedy plans to withdraw his candidacy from ballots in swing states but will remain on ballots in other states. He attributed his campaign’s struggles to media censorship and exclusion from debates, though he has faced criticism for his endorsement and controversies surrounding his campaign, including allegations of sexual assault and conspiracy theories.

Max Kennedy, a lawyer and the ninth child of Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy, characterized his brother’s endorsement as “inconceivable” and criticized his decision to offer support to Trump after being ignored by Kamala Harris’ camp. He urged the public to disregard his brother’s choice and back Harris instead, arguing that it aligns more closely with their father’s values.

Despite family disagreements, Max Kennedy stressed the importance of maintaining familial love and unity, even amid political differences. He concluded with a heartfelt plea for Americans to honor his father’s legacy by supporting the Democratic platform.
