Juventus' Kenan Yildiz Makes History as Youngest Scorer in Champions League Revamp
Juventus’ 19-year-old forward Kenan Yildiz made headlines on Tuesday by scoring the first goal of the revamped Champions League. Yildiz showcased his talent with a stunning long-range shot that curled into the far top corner of the net, marking a significant milestone in his young career.
At just 19 years and 136 days old, Yildiz has now become Juventus’ youngest scorer in the Champions League, breaking the record previously held by Alessandro Del Piero, who scored at 20 years and 308 days against Borussia Dortmund in September 1995. Notably, Yildiz wore the iconic No. 10 jersey that Del Piero famously donned during his tenure at the club.
Yildiz’s goal came 21 minutes into the match against PSV Eindhoven, setting a promising tone for Juventus in this new league phase, which features 36 teams ranked in a single standings format.
Meanwhile, in another early match, Aston Villa faced off against Young Boys, highlighting the competitive spirit of the newly structured Champions League.
