Judge Orders Adrian Peterson to Surrender Assets to Settle $12M Debt
Former NFL star Adrian Peterson has been directed by a Texas judge to hand over personal assets to address a substantial debt exceeding $12 million. The debt originated from a $5.2 million loan from a Pennsylvania lending firm, which, due to accrued interest and fees, has more than doubled.
A court-appointed receiver, Robert Berleth, has been tasked with collecting the funds. In July, Berleth requested that constables be present during the asset inventory process at Peterson’s Missouri City, Texas, home to ensure a smooth procedure and prevent any disruption.
The judge granted this request on Monday. Peterson’s legal team had previously attempted to block the auctioning of certain items from Peterson’s storage units, including his 2007 NFL “Rookie of the Year” trophy. However, a February ruling temporarily halted the sale of these items.
Peterson, a four-time All-Pro running back known for his seven Pro Bowl selections and 2012 NFL MVP award, played for several teams throughout his career, including the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders, and Detroit Lions.
