Heavyweight Showdown: Joshua Weighs in Heavier than Dubois Ahead of Title Fight
Anthony Joshua confidently weighed in at 18 stone ahead of his highly anticipated world-title clash against Daniel Dubois, who tipped the scales at a career-heavy 17 stone 10 pounds. The two heavyweights are set to face off at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, with Joshua aiming to reclaim the IBF belt.
At the extravagant weigh-in held at Trafalgar Square, Joshua, 34, embraced his gladiatorial persona, stating, “I look at myself as a gladiator and I’m going to step into the arena tomorrow to perform for the people.” He dismissed any notions of nearing the end of his boxing career, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the sport. 
The event was a spectacle, featuring a backdrop of iconic London landmarks, including Nelson’s Column, and attracting hundreds of fans who showed their support for the former two-time unified champion. In contrast, Dubois, 27, maintained a quieter presence, repeating his readiness to fight with minimal commentary.
Traditionally, champions weigh in first, but the draw of Joshua saw him go second. Despite some expecting Dubois to come in lighter, he impressed with his weight, coming in four pounds heavier than his previous fight, where he scored a notable stoppage victory over Filip Hrgovic.
Joshua, who also weighed in at 18 stone during his knockout win over Francis Ngannou in March, expressed gratitude to fans, requesting their prayers for his success in reclaiming the title. “If I can ask one favour, go home tonight and pray for my success tomorrow,” he urged the crowd.
The fight week has been organized by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s general entertainment authority, and it has been marked by a series of unique events, including a red carpet-style arrival and open workouts designed to evoke British tradition. All 96,000 tickets have sold out, surpassing the previous attendance record set during the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte match.
With Joshua holding 25 knockouts in 28 wins and Dubois stopping 20 out of 21 opponents, fans can expect an electrifying showdown, with both fighters eager to showcase their power and skill in the ring.
