Google Meet Launches 'Take Notes for Me' AI Feature to Enhance Meeting Productivity

Google Meet has introduced a groundbreaking feature called “Take notes for me,” aimed at improving meeting productivity and accessibility. This AI-powered tool, which leverages Google’s Gemini AI, is now rolling out to select Google Workspace customers and will be widely available by September 10.

The “Take notes for me” feature automatically captures meeting discussions and generates a summary, making it easier for users who join late or need a recap. Currently, this feature is accessible only on Google Meet for PCs and supports the English language.

Here’s how it works: When enabled, the AI tool records notes during the meeting, which are then saved in a Google Docs document stored in the meeting owner’s Google Drive. This document is attached to the calendar event, allowing participants within the organization to review it. For those who have enabled meeting recording and transcriptions, these files are also linked within the notes document.

A standout feature of this tool is the “Summary so far” functionality. If you join a meeting late, Google Gemini will provide a brief summary of the discussions that occurred before your arrival, as well as inform you of the current topic being discussed. This feature ensures that latecomers can quickly catch up and stay engaged with the meeting’s progress.

The “Take notes for me” feature is part of Google’s broader efforts to enhance the efficiency and user experience of its collaboration tools. By automating note-taking and providing real-time summaries, Google aims to support better meeting management and accessibility for all users.

As Google continues to expand its AI capabilities, this new feature is expected to become a valuable tool for organizations and individuals who rely on Google Meet for their virtual meetings.
