CeeDee Lamb Secures $136 Million Extension, Urges Cowboys to Extend Dak Prescott
CeeDee Lamb has finalized a lucrative four-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys worth $136 million, securing his place with the team through 2028. Now, with his contract settled, the All-Pro wide receiver is focused on ensuring that quarterback Dak Prescott remains a long-term fixture for the Cowboys.
Lamb, who signed the deal after a lengthy holdout, joined the team for a light workout on Tuesday, just hours after the agreement was finalized. The contract brings Lamb close to the highest non-quarterback deal in NFL history, falling slightly short of the $140 million extension signed by Justin Jefferson with the Minnesota Vikings.
The timing of Lamb’s contract brings a sigh of relief after months of speculation and negotiations. Prescott, who is in the final year of his $160 million contract signed in 2021, has been in ongoing talks with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about a new deal. Lamb expressed his confidence in reaching a resolution, stating, “I have no doubt that they’re going to get a deal done. We all know I want Dak here. Jerry wants Dak here, too.”
Lamb, who led the NFL last season with 135 receptions and 1,749 receiving yards, missed all of the Cowboys’ offseason program and training camp while holding out for a better contract. Despite this, he remained in close proximity to team headquarters and kept up with his training.
Looking ahead, Lamb is focused on preparing for the season opener on September 8 against the Cleveland Browns. He acknowledged the need for some adjustment after missing training camp but expressed confidence in his readiness.
“I gotta get bumped a little bit,” Lamb said. “Not so much hit, as I’m running, a little nudge. Those are just little things, contact balance. But again, I train for those. I feel like I’m more prepared than ever.”
The resolution of Lamb’s contract and his optimism about Prescott’s future reflect a significant shift in the Cowboys’ roster dynamics as they head into the new season.
