This revelation was shared just days prior to Iowa, ranked sixth, hosting the second-ranked Ohio State in a Sunday showdown. “I think just going into Senior Night, having that decision clear not only for myself but our fans, my teammates. I think that was super important,” said Clark. She expressed relief at having made her choice and is now focused on fully enjoying the last leg of her college journey with her team.

With an impressive scoring record, Clark has surpassed Kelsey Plum as the NCAA career scoring leader and also edged past Lynette Woodard in major college women’s basketball scoring history. With a current total of 3,650 points, she is within reach of Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.

Clark also had the option for an additional year with the Hawkeyes owing to an NCAA allowance granted for the 2020-21 season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, as the season progressed, her path became clearer. “I’ve gone honestly back and forth a little bit, especially early in the year,” she admitted. As time went by, Clark felt more certain about her decision and acknowledged the support she received from the coaching staff during the process.

While Iowa coach Lisa Bluder expressed disappointment at Clark’s imminent departure, she recognized the importance of supporting players in their transition to professional careers. “She’s ready for a new challenge,” Bluder stated.

The Indiana Fever hold the first pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, but Clark has not yet engaged in discussions with the team. Meanwhile, the excitement in Iowa is palpable, with Sunday’s game sold out and ticket prices soaring.
