BTS’ "Dynamite" Makes History as the First K-Pop Song to Exceed 800 Million Streams on Oricon

BTS has once again made history with their chart-topping hit “Dynamite,” which has become the first K-pop song to surpass 800 million streams on Oricon, Japan’s largest music statistics site. This milestone was announced by Oricon on August 16, confirming BTS as the first non-Japanese artist to achieve this feat. They join Japanese artists YOASOBI and Yuuri as the only acts to reach this impressive streaming count.

Released on August 21, 2020, “Dynamite” marked BTS’ debut all-English single and played a pivotal role in cementing their global superstar status. The upbeat disco-pop track, known for its vibrant and colorful music video, was crafted to lift spirits and spread positivity during a challenging period for the group. The song’s cheerful vibe and meaningful lyrics reflect the group’s intention to uplift themselves and their fans during tough times.

While BTS has been on a hiatus from group music releases due to members’ military enlistments, with Jin having completed his service and J-Hope and others scheduled to return by June 2025, the group has continued to thrive individually. All seven members have been actively pursuing solo music projects during this break. Fans can look forward to BTS’ comeback with new releases once all members reunite in 2025.
