Barclays Signs Historic £45m Sponsorship Deal with Women’s Super League
In a significant boost for women’s football, Barclays has secured a new three-year sponsorship agreement worth £45 million with the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Women’s Championship. This deal, valued at approximately £15 million per year, doubles the previous sponsorship arrangement set to expire at the end of this season.
This landmark contract marks the first major agreement under the WSL’s new management by Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL). Barclays, which became the title sponsor in 2019, is now part of the largest sponsorship deal in women’s domestic football history.
The WSL has seen consistent growth in both viewership and attendance in recent years. WPLL chief executive Nikki Doucet highlighted Barclays’ role as a key supporter of women’s football, stating, “This record multi-year investment reflects a long-term commitment to the game and provides crucial endorsement for our mission to elevate women’s football.”
In addition to its partnership with the WSL, Barclays has also renewed its sponsorship with the Premier League, securing a new four-year agreement.
