Barclays Secures Landmark £45 Million Sponsorship Deal with Women’s Super League
The Women’s Super League (WSL) has finalized a significant new sponsorship agreement with Barclays, extending its title sponsorship for another three years in a deal valued at £45 million. This arrangement, approximately £15 million per year, doubles the previous sponsorship terms and includes investment and marketing efforts.
This marks the first major contract for the WSL under its new ownership, Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL). Barclays has been the title sponsor since 2019, and this renewal is regarded as the largest deal in the realm of women’s domestic football.
The WSL has seen a steady increase in both viewership and attendance in recent years, highlighting the growing popularity of women’s football. WPLL CEO Nikki Doucet stated, “Barclays has been a leading light in supporting women’s football, and they are now a founding partner for WPLL as we embark on a transformational journey to grow the game.”
She emphasized that this record multi-year investment not only showcases Barclays’ commitment but also provides vital endorsement for the league’s future ambitions. In addition, Barclays has also extended its partnership with the Premier League with a new four-year deal.
